On this week's blog, we wanted to introduce you to another member of our fabulous team.
Steven Alexander is our Assistant Manager at Fazenda Edinburgh, and we had some questions to ask him so you could get to know him better. We travelled to Edinburgh to meet him and this is what he shared with us, Fazendeiros.
I first got into the hospitality industry many moons ago when I was 17/18 years old. It started at a local restaurant as a way to subsidise my way through music and drama studies. It happened by chance really. I found that I took to it really well, and working with people from all different ages and backgrounds gave me a lot more confidence as a young teen.
One of my favourite parts of working for Fazenda is the opportunity to meet new and interesting people daily, and also being able to continually learn and improve my knowledge within the hospitality sector. It's great being part of such a big family and delivering such a unique dining concept to our guests.
During my time within the company, I've learned so much in terms of Brazilian cuisine and fine South American wines, which have always been a passion. It's also a great learning experience in terms of how the company functions day-to-day, and the fine details that we have in place to create such a thriving environment to work in. I now also know a lot more about guest relations management which is a big part of what we do. Although challenging at times, it definitely helps you grow.
Outside of work, I'm still extremely passionate about music and all aspects of performance. I try to take time when I can to perform in concerts and gigs which feed my desire to perform. Although, I do still sing a lot when I'm at work! A little trivia - I took part in the Voice UK a few years ago which I loved, so at any opportunity I get, I love a good sing song! Apart from that, I love to cook, partake in a good evening out with friends and go to the theatre.
We loved spending some time getting to know Steven better - and hearing him sing a song or two as well! If you have any questions for him leave them in the comments below, Fazendeiros.
