This week we went to Liverpool and sat down over coffee with Lowri, one of our Assistant Managers there. We asked her a few questions so you'd be able to get to know her a little better, Fazendeiros.
I joined Fazenda back in February of 2019 working as a Server on the floor. A few months later I moved to reception and quickly worked my way up mastering the department to land myself the role of Reception Manager! Although I thoroughly enjoyed my time on reception, I knew I was craving a new challenge and so when the opportunity for an Assistant Manager role presented itself, I grabbed it and didn't look back!
Its not all about the grand gestures and going above and beyond for guests in an over-the-top way that are the ones people remember. The simplicity of kindness really goes so far.
A family once dined for a birthday celebration and were quite nervous about dining with their small toddler because they didn't want to disturb other guests. Around halfway through their experience, the child became quite restless and it was obvious the mother was feeling a bit overwhelmed. One of our Waitresses simply went over to her to chat and before we knew it had scooped up the little one on her hip whilst she took drinks orders and talked the family through side dish options. The little one was instantly consoled and thrilled to be involved with something. The waitress carried on serving the table and attending to the little one with notepads and giving her the pen to hold so the mother could have a 10 minute break to enjoy her meal. The feedback we received from the family following the reservation was so genuine and heartfelt and a few days later we received flowers addressed to our Waitress.
Apart from the gorgeous coastlines and beaches you can find in Wales, you have to get yourself down to the following;
I've recently just finished my 1st draft of a book Ive been writing for around 2 years. I really don't expect to go anywhere with it but just setting myself the goal of writing a whole book and coming out with a 1st draft feels incredible. If I ever publish it, you'll be the first to know!
I'm one of those people that has to listen to something constantly whenever I'm doing anything, so I'm obsessed with podcasts. My favourite go to at the moment is one called Off Menu. It's hosted by 2 comedians who invite a guest to reel off their dream menu from start to finish including drinks, side dishes, desserts etc. It's completely hilarious and also leaves me starving after I spend an hour listening to them describe traditional home-cooked recipes from all over the world!
I cannot go one working day without having our signature cap of rump 'Picanha', medium-rare. The addition of our Destacados menu has been my favourite change we've made here at Fazenda and the Vieiras (Scottish Queen Scallops) are just to die for. Maybe even paired with a sneaky glass of champagne really makes them come alive! For dessert I can't go without a few Brigadeiros paired with a coffee! Gorgeous Brazilian truffles that are just the right amount of sweet - if you haven't tried them yet they're a must.
We won't disagree with those choices! Don't forget to say hi to Lowri next time you're at Fazenda Liverpool.
