Meet Amy | Fazenda Edinburgh's Relationships & Events Manager

Fazenda Edinburgh

This year the Fazenda journey took us further north, and in February 2018 the fourth Fazenda opened in the heart of George Street, in the city of Edinburgh. We could tell you more about the restaurant itself (capacity, private dining facilities) but you can read about those here, so what we would like to say is that from the very first day the people of this stunning city welcomed us with open arms, visited us, enjoyed meals with us sharing experiences and creating memories, and continue to support us to date. All of this fills us with both pride and humility, Fazendeiros, and as always we are thankful to have you.

On the blog we'd like to start introducing you to different members of our Fazenda team - which is quite big now, over 300 strong - so we hope you enjoy getting to know them a bit better.

Meet Amy Browne

In this week's blog, we want to introduce you to Fazenda Edinburgh's REM, Amy Browne.

We had some questions to ask Amy, as we'd love for our Fazendeiros to get to know her a bit better.

-Tell us a little bit about yourself.

I’m always curious; I think it’s important for growth both personally and professionally. I lived in Abu Dhabi while I was Cabin Crew for 6 years and recently moved back to Scotland, where I’m from. As a fashion business graduate I have a love for all things fashion and beauty, weird and wonderful. I try to feed my creative juices by taking up new hobbies such as painting, cooking, knitting (that didn’t last long) and designing future projects.

At Fazenda, I drive our brand awareness and build relationships within the city. I share our unique concept with people and network, building strong relationships.  Creating and hosting events is such an exciting part of the job and managing guest experiences. Fazenda is our home and we welcome our guests to join us!

-What is your role at Fazenda and what is your favourite part of the job?

I’m the Relationships and Events Manager for Fazenda Edinburgh, which opened earlier this year. My favourite part of the job, without a doubt, is going out and meeting new people and hearing their story. Each day is different which keeps me thinking and adapting all the time, using many different skills.

-Where did you go to university and what did you study?

I went to Glasgow Caledonian University and did my honours degree in Fashion Business. Glasgow is one of my favourite places and I met so many lifelong friends during my time there. The course was fantastically diverse and gave me both practical skills and theoretical knowledge from designing & creating to marketing, finance and management. I love that although not a direct route to where I am now, I can use my creativity in events here and the marketing and business aspects are very relevant to my role day to day.

-What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

I enjoy getting out and about - walking and getting plenty of fresh air. Edinburgh is perfect for feeling like you are in the countryside yet being within walking distance to city centre. Like most, I’m a big fan of shopping for things I don’t need so again it's perfect being in the centre of town close to so many retailers. I spend a lot of time with family too as I missed out on a lot being in the Middle East for a few years.

-Who inspires you the most and why?

This is tough, as I’m inspired by so many different people from friends and peers to world-famous figures. I take a bit of inspiration from everyone really. People who are optimistic, ambitious, dedicated and kind inspire me to push and be the best version of myself.

If you have any questions for Amy post them in the comments below, Fazendeiros.
