Brazilian Gems - Four Must-See Places

Brazil is a country blessed with cultural hotspots galore - the thriving cultural city of Rio de Janiero, the metropolis giant São Paolo and the famous Iguaçu Falls. One could travel our mother land of Brazil for weeks, months even and never manage to experience the country’s true beauty in its entirety. We wanted to share some must see places with you, our Fazendeiros.

Lençóis Maranhenses

The Maranhenses National Park located in North eastern Brazil is a testament to natural beauty. A conservation area consisting of a rich and diverse ecosystem, Lençóis Maranhenses is home to the truly stunning Lagao Bonita and Lagoa Azul (the main lagoons). Don’t be fooled though, exploring the Lençóis should be an experience and isn’t a hop on hop off type of trip. We’re all about making memories through experience at Fazenda, and this place will most definitely make it’s mark.

Paraty

A small town in the state of Rio de Janiero, Paraty offers a contrast of stark beauty on the Costa Verde (Green coast). Where luscious green rolling hills meet the Atlantic Ocean, this small city offers serenity and tranquility.  Here you'll find quaint whitewashed architecture nestled amongst the cobbled streets, which the Portuguese colonised in the 18thCentury.  Steeped in history, art and rich with wonders of nature, Paraty is the perfect destination if you're artistically inclined.

Ouro Preto

Located in the Serra do Espinhaço mountains, Ouro Preto which means ‘Black Gold’ was once the epicentre of the late Gold Rush in Brazil. The city is famed for it’s Baroque architecture, in particular the works of Antonio Francisco Lisboa, also known as Aleijadinho. The Church of St.Francis of Assis which took over 100 years to build features on the World UNESCO Heritage site list. This place exudes beauty and history entwined.

Ilhe de Marajó

North of Brazil near the mouth of the Amazon, you can find Ilhe de Marajó. It’s vast beauty encompasses the incredible wildlife, from water buffalo and an array of species of tropical birds. The island itself is largest than Switzerland and there are a number of fazendas (farms) to visit if you want. Marajó is definitely one of those places for the nature loving adventurer.
