Action Against Hunger

Over the past few years, we've been working closely with Action Against Hunger, supporting their campaigns through several different events and campaigns. This week we’d like to share a bit more about this fantastic charity, and let you in on some of the things we've been doing to help raise funds for a good cause.

About Action Against Hunger

Action Against Hunger are a fantastic charity that helps to provide food, clean water, healthcare and training for people all over the globe. They've enabled entire communities to be free from hunger for over 40 years across almost 50 countries, and we couldn't be happier to support them, Fazendeiros.

Some of What We've Done to Support Them

Manchester Half-Marathon

On Sunday 13th October, our team put their running trainers on, to raise money to provide children in need with the support, nutrition and care they need and deserve to survive and grow up strong. 22 members of our team from various Fazenda restaurants and Head Office joined together to take part in the Manchester half-marathon. Many of our team members have taken part in this marathon for several years now, but this is the first time we've ever had people travel from various other cities, and we couldn't be happier that they were so eager to join in, all for a good cause.

We believe that pushing yourself out of your comfort zone is the best road to self-improvement, giving us the opportunity to grow as professionals and even more importantly, as people.

We spoke to Gerard Duarte dos Santos, Receptionist at Fazenda Leeds that took part in this fun event:

"I was asked to join the half marathon for Fazenda in support of Action Against Hunger and having never done one before, I decided to brave it. An early morning journey from Leeds, we joined up in the rain with our fellow Fazendeiros. The run was challenging and I hit a wall just before the halfway, but with Alberto pulling me along we both ended up running some decent times. I thoroughly enjoyed the chance to represent my company in this race as well as to support Action Against Hunger (despite how shattered I felt for the rest of the day!)."

We had a goal of £700, and we're pleased to announce we raised a fantastic £759.

Manchester Food & Drink Festival

Our Executive Chef Fran Martinez held a very special event at this year's Manchester Food & Drink Festival. 'Roots & Future', an exclusive eight-course tasting menu, blended Brazilian and Argentinian cuisines to create something truly unique and diverse.

Paired with exquisite South American wines & cocktails, each dish in this culinary journey fused tradition with innovation, offering an combination of these two countries' finest ingredients and flavours.

We had a total of 51 guests served, raising a fantastic £2250 which will go both to Action Against Hunger, and also help to fund a trek through Jordan - a trip that Fran will be braving early next year to also help raise funds and awareness for Action Against Hunger.

Love Food Give Food

All of our restaurants took part in the brilliant Love Food Give Food campaign once again. Our guests who dined with us throughout the whole of September and October had the opportunity to add £1 to their bill as a donation to this amazing charity. The response to this has been outstanding, and we couldn't be more grateful for the support you've given us to help those in need, Fazendeiros.

Fazenda's passion for food translates to the desire and belief that everyone should have the right to food, therefore we believe it's an honour to support Action Against Hunger and everything they stand for.

We'd love to tell you how much we raised from Love Food Give Food:

Leeds - £4611.18
Liverpool - £2471.00
Manchester - £5097.31
Edinburgh - £3044.13
Birmingham - £2143.53
Picanha - £1178.28

In total, we raised an amazing £18545.43! We couldn't be happier with the result.

If you'd like to donate, you can find their donation page here.

We want to thank each and every one of you once again for helping us support this fantastic charity, Fazendeiros.
