On the 20th June, our Executive Chef Fran Martinez joined the students on their final Cheshire College Gourmet Night of the year. Fran was able to engage with the students during the day and shared his vast experience working with Michelin-Star restaurants around the world, in countries such as Spain, China, Thailand & Germany, before moving to the UK to work with us.
Inspired by Fran’s cross-continental culinary career, the menu was exclusively curated for the Cheshire College Gourmet Night and prepared by the aspiring chefs themselves. The front-of-house students also had the opportunity to engage with our Relationships and Events Manager, Julia Huf, who helped them gain confidence to host the evening and knowledge about the special cocktails and wines chosen to pair with the dishes.
Cheshire College – South & West is the result of a successful merge between South Cheshire College and West Cheshire College, with campuses in Crewe, Ellesmere Port and Chester.
Within the premises of the college building in Ellesmere Port lies The Academy West, the college’s fully licensed restaurant, which provides a real-work environment for their Hospitality and Catering students.
The Academy West promotes various events throughout the year that give the students the opportunity to experience different challenges. Their Gourmet Night is a special event in which the college invites a renowned chef to help the students to host a full fine dining experience for paying guests. All the money raised through the sales of spaces is to help the college’s continuous work with their Hospitality course
