Action Against Hunger

Our Friends at Action Against Hunger

In this week's blog, we wanted to talk about our good friends over at Action Against Hunger, and we want to share with you some of the work we've done in support of them, Fazendeiros.

Action Against Hunger want a world free from hunger. For almost 40 years and across nearly 50 countries, they have led the global fight against hunger. We're proud to say that we wholeheartedly support all the amazing work they do around the world.

Their aid work is carried out across the globe, in many countries in Africa, Asia, Europe & Middle East and Latin America & the Carribean.

Some of their most recent work includes emergency help and support to those affected in the earthquake and tsunami in Indonesia. The Action Against Hunger team are continuing to provide sanitary kits, food and medicines to those who need it most.

Fazenda's Work With Action Against Hunger

In 2016, we hosted Action Against Hunger's 'Too Many Critics' event at Fazenda Manchester. At this event, food critics were challenged to swap their pens for pans; they took centre-stage in the Fazenda kitchen to cook for a room full of the North-West's best chefs and restauranteurs. With the help of all the amazing people at this event and everyone else's support, we raised an unbelievable £19,000.

For the last three years throughout September and October, Fazenda has supported the 'Love Food Give Food' campaign in all our restaurants, where we give our guests the option to add £1 to their bill in support of the charity. In 2017, we raised an amazing £13,279.43 across all of our restaurants just with this campaign alone, winning the 'Top Love Food Give Food Fundraiser outside of London' award.

Earlier this month, 10 of our Manchester team ran the Asics Marathon to help raise funds for this incredible charity.

The charity brought its flagship charity food, drink and music party - Auction Against Hunger - to Manchester for the first time on 6th September 2018 and we're proud to say that Fazenda took part. We managed to raise over £9000 at this event alone, along with our auctioned off lot - a one-off experience that explores the roots & future of Brazilian cuisine, cooked and prepared by our Executive Group Chef, Fran Martinez - which was sold for £600.

In total, we've raised over £57,000 with the help of our events and the incredible support that you have given us.

We've just launched a brand new campaign across the group, supporting 'Year Round Donation on a Dish'. For every Marquise de Chocolate dessert that we sell, 50p is donated to the charity.

Ethiopia Trek

In 2016 our co-founder Tomas Maunier teamed up with some of finest Northern chefs, restauranteurs and hospitality industry experts for a fundraising hike across Ethiopia, raising money and awareness.

The team hiked 80km of rough, rocky terrain at altitudes up to a dizzying 3,400m. On the toughest day, they trekked for 13 hours straight across the demanding terrain.

The trip raised an unimaginable £92,000 in total for Action Against Hunger!

We're so grateful for the opportunities that we've had to help this incredible charity. All of us at Fazenda want to thank you for your continued support for this charity, Fazendeiros.
